Bad Monkey or DS-1?

I am looking for a distortion pedal and am undecided between these two

I play heavier sorts of rock similar to foo fighters

which one?

I've heard bad reviews for the DS-1. The Bad Monkey is an overdrive, not a distortion. Maybe try the Digitech Hot Head? I've never tried one but they look pretty good.

And I can definately recommend the Big Muff for all that music. It's just right.

overdrive is what you get when you push a tube amp over the top. It is like a mild crunch usually. Distortion is anything more over the top than that. Basically. If ya get what I mean...

they really shouldnt make the names so similar

Ahh, right, now the SD-1 is an overdrive as well.

I have been looking at getting an SD-1 myself. I need some variety of distortion/fuzz/overdrive on my pedalboard. They seem like a decent pedal.

Well the names aren't similiar. Their only, it's not abbreviations, but it's the first word that comes to mind, you can only do so much with 2 letters. They're bound to become easy to confuse just calling them by that.

For the Foos i'd try a Boss MT-2 or Marshall JH-1. They are good solid distortions with EQ.

everybody is aware of my detest for mt-2's, but ive got to admit that ive never heard a metal rythm tone i liked, so my opinion problably doesnt count in metal rythm distortions.

I've heard the JH-1 is actually really good. They are cheap too.

I've also heard good things about the Boss MD-2, but I have no first hand experience.

ive already got marshall distortion on my amp and a footswitch to put that on

Fair enough. I'm gonna get a SD-1, as it's Boss and I know they are reliable.

just looked at that MD-2 and it doesnt look like the kind of pedal id use as i like to get tones closer to the guitars on monkey wrench and this song by biffy clyro

I love Biffy, and that's why I suggested the MD-2, cause I know that Simon Neil uses one. I know that he also uses an MT-2, or one of the Boss pedals of that ilk, and a DS-1. So you could have a look into those. The DS-1 is probably the one he used in Get ####ed Stud, but it could have been the MD-2, I can't really tell.

Good show, my man. You should get a hold of some of the earlier stuff too. It's absolutely amazing. Imo everyone should know Biffy.
