So I'm thinking about getting a Big Muff. Questions inside.

Though I don't know if I should go for the U.S. one or the Russian. I've heard there are some slight differences between the two. Also does anyone know how it sounds with stock mustang pick ups? Thanks.

I can state as a FACT that the USA Big Muff sounds awesome with the stock Mustang pickups.

BUT it sounds ten times better with a humbucker in the bridge position.

I've never tried a Russian one, but I hear they are real good too.

you can't go wrong. except with the 'little big muff', I didnt like that t all. I guess you can listen to some songs, the us big muff sound is pretty smashing pumpkins 'siamese dream' sounding, the russian is bit more mudhoney sounding; sonic youth use them too; more lo-fi. The solo from 'the dimond sea' is a russian muff. Hardware on the russin muffs is a bit dodgy though.

Yeah, i have a Double Muff as well. They are good but react weird sometimes if they are not at the front of the FX chain.

Thinking about getting a big muff huh well there are a few points to consider!

1. Are you aware it is a pricey operation to get a muff?

2. Is your family aware of your sexual persuasion and your decision to get a muff?

3. Are you aware that getting a muff might attract Lou to you?

Make sure these points are well considered before getting a big muff, for you see it is a risky, dangerous procedure not to mention controversial, I myself do not discriminate or hate against people with different sexual orientations, but just make sure you are making the right decision because once its a muff theirs no going back ( I don't think ).

The Big Muff and Double Muff are totally different. The Double is an overdrive, the Big Muff is a smoooooth distortion. And who cares as to what size it is!? I actually thought all EH pedals were that size when the Big Muff was the only one I had. When my Small Clone came in the post, my first reaction was "Wow, it's tiny!!"
