So I'm thinking about getting a Big Muff. Questions inside.

No, it's two cascading Muff overdrives. The Muff was EHX's first overdrive pedal (it came after the LPB-1 booster). They've started re-issuing it in nano form. But I have a Double Muff (with singe mode) so have absolutely no intention of buying one 😉

i bought a USA Big muff. and i know that double muff and bigmuff are a lot different i just thought they both looked cool, so i wasnt sure which one i wanted

Nice one! You'll definately enjoy the Big Muff. If I had to choose between the Big Muff and the Double, I'd choose the Big Muff hands down. Not that the Double Muff is a bad pedal by any means! It's awesome, but I really dig the smoothness of the Big Muff.

Exactly! And it's period correct to an era that had never heard of trying to minimalise everything. Back then it was all about the BIG!

i still wish that it was smaller, i mean smaller is just more economic on pedal board or ground space, it just makes more sense for it to be smaller... but whatever, doesnt bother me much

GOT THE MUFF!

First impression, i like it. If the tone knob goes above 11 or 12 oclock though, its get too high for my tastes. i like it more bassy. but its nice and silky smooth, sustain for days and with the ds-2 on at the same time i can get some nice controllable feedback.

Glad you like it!!

It's funny what you say about the tone knob, though. I usually have mine at 3 - 4 o'clock. Kick it back to about 1 or so if I want a deeper growl.

They make a little big muff for those of you that can't handle the big muff. The new lbm has alot more range than the yellow vintage one. I think it's the same internals as the big muff but I never took them apart to check or side by sided them. (the English muff'n is sweet also)

I've heard that the Little Big Muff gives a sound sort of in between the USA Big Muff and the Russian one. I haven't tried one though... I'm not hugely fond of the new chassies that the EHX pedals have now... They don't seem as... Cool...

Actually LBMPi is very similar to Ram's Head Muff soundwise...like 90% And you could put BMPi in smaller hammond enclosure, if you could survive without graphics 😉
