Yeah I use my Jag and the pickups are SD Antiquity's which aren't very hot in comparison to a lot of modern pickups. Plus this class is a gutiar ensemble and a lot of the assholes in their play with EMGs, Metal Zones, and crank their crate amps all the way up. Kind of makes me sick sometimes.

Deluxe has a great tone, but isn't all that clean when cranked, which I personally love, but I like a very very clean amp as well; that way it's like a super loud blank canvas I can paint on with my pedals.

I'm actually the same, and that's a great metaphor I must say. I never use anything other than the clean channel on an amp.

And I've never tried really cranking the Deluxe, with fear of breaking my ears.

But the distorted channel on the twin really is something great. I've got a red knob one....it looks ####e but sounds unbelievable!

That and my carl martin boost kick is all I need....oh and my line 6 green delay box, harmonix holy grail, big muff, SD1, vox wah, danelectro tape delay, CE5.....I think I've just shot myself in the foot yea?!!!

Seriously, after getting the pedal w*nk diatribe out of the way, the overdrive on the twin is sweet.

But not as good as my AC30, but that's just a one channel machine

Well I think we're all talking about blackface and silverface twins. How much did you pay for the red knob twin? And how dirty does the drive channel get? I read an article once that likened it to marshall distortion, but I found that hard to believe.

picked the traynor up saturday. it is not loud, its putting out around 5 watts, somethings wrong with it 😠. Its also distorting nastily, i think there might be a bad cap or two (or every #### cap in there). its in both channels, which kind of sucks, BUT the tremelo is very nice. its got this complex rise and fall, like it shudders or something. Also, i tryed plugging into a cranked bassman, and then channel strapping to the traynor, so that the traynor was putting out a reverb soaked, tremelod signal, and the bassman was putting out the basic dirty tone. Only thing about the effects that i dont like is the quick decay of the reverb.

Damn dude that blows! Did you try it out in the shop first? Maybe that's why they had it marked so low??

I'll have to admit I never heard of traynor 'til this thread, just googled them and now I'm really interested in them. Tragic do you know if they were handwired originally or PCB?

And what kind of speakers do they use? And it's 100w of clean headroom it looks like right?

Well if I were you I would get that bad boy working ASAP so you can tell me if I should waste more of my money on one! 😁

Geese those amps are a steal! I just checked out some reviews and info on them on wikipedia. Some of the vintage combos sell for less than $500 on ebay and are all handwired and use Celestian speakers.

I'm def. gonna be checking out either an original YGM-3, which is supposed to sound like a deluxe, or the YBA 1 which uses the same circuit board as the original Marshall Plexi and Fender Bassman.

Looks like I'm gonna be eating Ramon noodles and PBnJ's for a while.

yea, its amazing compared to the #### made today. Handwired on a turret board i believe (definitely not a pcb), amazing. The tubes are top notch if theyre original, speaker too. Imagine what a custom shop fender twin reverb would cost w/ about the same features! all tube. Im gonna hold off on repair for a few weeks, ive commissioned something.... 😁

I love my Orange but to be honest I've been using my Fender HRDX alot more recently, but I don't think you can ever love orange to much 😆 I agree with Tragic I worked my ass off to get it so I love it.

I used to own a twin too, and everything everyone said about it is true.

Loud, clean, and weighs a lot.

I haven't really played around with alot of clean amps, i like my amps like i like my women, nasty and dirty, but those Fenders in clean volume are amazing. I never gigged it, house use only, and i never got past 3 on the volume without thinking my ears would bleed.

Mike Bloomfield is famous for using a Twin Reverb with a Les Paul and he had an amazingggg clean tone! Great undderated blues player also.
