For years on and off I've had dry, cracked and generally nasty skin on my hands. As a kid I used to get eczema every now and again so no big deal, I just thought it was part of the condition - and I don't really make a big deal about my health because I'm a lazy slob.
Anyway, after a bit of a gap in playing my hands were back to healthy - but now I've started playing in a band again the long sessions of playing have completely f*cked my hands up with horrible blisters and sore skin. So putting 2 and 2 together and going to the doctor I've discovered I'm allergic to nickel. Basically I would take any other non-fatal allergy in its place as pretty much every guitar old and new, and all my current guitars are nickel fretted and strung
I'm currently trying some Rotosound British Steels on my Jaguar but they are of such poor quality and they are murdering the frets - there are already sharp nicks on the upper frets of my B and top E string. Plus the sores still appear.
So now I have to make very costly decisions about refretting and buying new necks for my current guitars and every other guitar I will ever buy as steel strings aren't enough. A stainless steel refret costs around
