Warmoth Necks? Stainless Steel and other woes :(

Yeah, I have a lace sensor gold in the neck - big gaps and it moves around a lot. I might give one a go as they're only $24 and then send it back if it doesn't fit.

im pretty sure that the mustang and strat pups are the same size as each other, you can put the mustang covers on the strat pups aswell

the only thing with putting the mustang cover on the strat pup is the polepieces are flat on the mustang and staggered on the strat. it dosent really fit cleanly. i had mine like this and they rattled and seemed to stick out if the p/g really far

not all strat polepieces are staggered

I always thought the Buzz-Stop looked clunky too but it improved the tone so much by changing the string angle.

As for the Schaller rollerbridge I haven't popped a string out since I put it on, but more importantly it is better matched to yr new necks radius (and looks cool)

Right! Just not on the cheap pups with the magnet glued to the bottom.

There's no way I'd trust myself to change pole pieces! I've recently got a Fender Lace Sensor in the neck anyway.

As you can see it's pretty much a mustang pup w/cover and on my Jag there really is a large gap on all sides between the p/guard and pup which lets it move about. At the moment there's yellow insulating tape keeping it in place but I'd like a more permanent solution.

Has anyone tried first hand or seen photos of a Warmoth p/guard on a Fender body? They say their body is an exact and faithful reproduction of the Fender Jaguar body but the p/guard will not retrofit a proper Fender? How does that work out?

I'm skeptical now of any company that boasts its stuff will fit "without modification". I bought a pickguard for my 51 from guitarfetish, and only 3 of the screwholes lined up, and the pickgurad would only go on the guitar with forcing, but even then it was so off-kilter as to be unusable.

I eventually but about 1/2 of the material away and gave a kind of 1/2 strat, 1/2 tele look. but it looked hideous, and i ended up tossing it away.

This *might* have something to do with the fact that Squier is so lax about things like pickguards and the screw placement thereon that the positions of said screw holes on said pickups have been known to change without notice 🙄 ...

That is probably true, which should mean that guitarfetish should be kind enough to say "will not fit without modification" rather than "will fit without modification".

But with my 51, it wasn't just the screwholes. It was a situation where it would not fit around the neck if it was placed over the neck pickup and vice versa. And the rear end of the pickup actually sat on top of the humbucker ring no matter which way it was put on. The luthier I go to and I worked on it for about 30 minutes before he declared that it simply wasn't happening. Lesson learned.

Their pickguard probably would work without modification for the particular batch of 51s they traced, but unless you know it was your batch, you have to get it traced yourself and make a custom from that...

I actually tried to get a custom made to the OG specs, but the luthier didnt have a sheet of acetate large enough, so I ended up buying the acetate anyway and having a pickguard made for my tele.

I actually really like the colour and shape of the pickguard on my 51 now, it's REALLY grown on me. If I can ever afford it, I might get a new one cut, because the one I have is pretty clunky. It's also warped, sadly ☹

That's a shame dude - looks pretty sexy with the cut guard anyway. Ever thought about sticking a toaster humbucker in there like a GFS retrotron? That'd look f*cking awesome on that guitar...

It actually doesn't have the stock pickup in it now. I don't know what pickup IS in there, but it sounds great, so it is staying 😀 But, yeah, a silver retrotron would look awesome. The gold one wouldn't look too bad either...
