been thinking for a while about vibrato designs on guitars. thinking about the best offerings of strat, jag, and bigsby trems. i figure that the bigsby designs w/tom bridges are best for intonation, especially with a roller. jaguars and bisgsbys both have a good capacity for upbends, but arent good for divebombs, etc. while strats can do ok vibrato, and excellent divebombs.
but why not take the saddles of a strat vibrato, throw it behind a tuneomatic roller, and rout on the surface behind it so that the vibrato can do decent upbends?
the only thing which limits the upward motion of a strat trem is the wood at the top of the guitar behind the vibrato right? the ulimate vibrato? anybody know where to find a stupidly long strat vibrato arm? i think the mim jags use long screw in arms....
