Hi All! In the near future i want to try to build a Fender Jaguar -like guitar. I need all measurings, sizes etc, for body & neck. I never early tried to do guitar. I think wats better for body basswood or alder? I would happy any information on how to make a guitar right, technologies etc. I'll try to make it in the near future, other questions will be with the lapse of time. I want Jaguar like Japan Fender Jaguar JG66B. So, i need your help 😀 Thank You...

Go for alder.

alders supposed to be brighter, deeper, more complex, etc, whereas basswood is supposed to be midrange voiced. jaguars are traditionally made out of alder.

Im not a fan of basswood either. Alder or poplar. Ask if someone will do you a tracing.

Don't have a Jag, so can't help you there, mate.

Basswood is quite a soft wood too, so I'd go for alder or even maple... mmm maple...

I think i'll buy a jaguar neck, 'cause it's very hard make neck right. Does Mustang neck fit to Jaguar body? They are 24" scale.

To make a body, i need to glue 2 parts of wood? Right?

Not nessisarily. You can get single cuts of wood that you can use for bodies. Granted they are a little more expencive, but it's a lot easier than doing the whole glueing thing.

Jaguar body & Jazzmaster have a same measurings? Differnce only in pickups? If it same, somebody who has made Jazzmaster, can you gave me the sizes, measurings....? Plz!

Afraid not. The Jaguar and Jazzmaster actually have different body shapes, albeit subtle, they are different. There's a pic somewhere of the outline of the Jag laid over the outline of the Jazz with all the pickup positions and everything. I had a look but couldn't find it, maybe someone else knows where it is...

Simply getting measurements won't help you, and NO ONE is gonna make you a detailed template/tracing for free. You might consider ponying up some cash.

well the question where to get templates/measurements of fender bodys (or interpretations thereof to avoid them californian lawyers) and routings is quite understandable, i think. i would have expected to find them online, too.

maybe somebody could post or hyperlink a short explanation as to why you won
