best amp for a JAGSTANG

The trouble is I don't think most people who play with a DS 1 get how it was used by Cobain. The most important knob on it was not the drive knob, but the level knob. Cobain's amp was set on the verge of breaking up and he had his guitar volume rolled back slightly for more of a clean tone, when it was time to play loud he would turn up his guitar or hit his DS-1, which had the level and Drive knob both turned all the way up, or he would do both. This would be the extra push to send an amp already on the verge of breaking up over the edge to get a nice big round distortion tone.

A lot of guys are playing at bedroom levels with solidstate amps cranking their drive knob on their DS-1 thinking that's all they need to get his sound.

I'm not trying to get cobain's sound. I bought the ds-1 because I was looking for a cheap distortion pedal for at my dad's house and it turned out being one of MY favorite pedals. Also if I was trying to get KC's sound I wouldn't ever plug a Kramer Vanguard into it (this is the only guitar I have at my dad's house, my JS has never once been plugged into my DS-1)

Well yeah I wasn't referring to you. I was referring to people looking for Cobain's sound. I wasn't ascerting that all people who own DS 1s want to sound like Kurt.

Again what is your price range? It's all determined by how much you can afford to spend, and what kind of music you want to play specifically?

Hendrix and Cobain are two very different artists, they both used different amps that were very different designs, they played very different guitars, different effects, and very different styles. You're not gonna find the perfect setup for both.

But if you wanted to sound just like Kurt then a mesa Boogie studio pre-amp with a crest 4801 power amplifier through a 4x12 marshall cabinet with vintage 30s would work out fine.

For Hendrix you need a vintage Super Lead 100 with a Marshall full stack of 4x12s with Celestion G12h's.

But neither of those setups are probably realistic, so what's your price range?

For a basic tube amp for your house the Blues Junior is superb. It's not gonna sound exactly like one of the above, at all, but it will be a lot closer then what you have, and it even sounds great for small gigs.

Attention Killakishdog: there is no "best" because best, like beauty, is in the eyes of the beholder. Therefore, the best amp for your Jag-stang is the one you like. Thus, you're doing yourself a disservice sitting here asking what amps everyone else likes. So get your butt down to Guitar Center, plug your Jag-stang into every amp you see, and pick the amp that best suits your needs.

well kurt didnt actually play through amps, he used modified lighting fixtures later called "lamplifiers" and thats what gave teh kurtz his sound. but sadly he was the only one who knew how the technology worked and when he was brutally murdered lol, people believe that the knowledge was lost. and so no one will ever have his tone and all jag-stangs should be mailed directly to me for disposal.

Blandest,First of all retard im 26,second of all math sucks,third I was listening to nirvana,black sabbath ,Hendrix and so on since the age of 5 ill probably out play you any day of the week been playin 21 years, The only reason im asking about this guitar is cause i dont know to much about the jagstang,So therefore before you run ur little piehole know what your talking about...

Hey man I'm not trying to make you into a troll, but you're doing an awfully good job of it yourself.

A lot of us have already given you some sage advice on amps, and from there it's all up to you.

And for some one who lives in PA and is 26 you have some trouble with typing English correctly, where are you from originally?

It's also pretty lame to claim you have superior skills on guitar over an internet forum as there's no way to validate those claims, and your choice of equipment would seem to negate that claim anyways.

And by the way, Math does not suck in the least. Just because YOU suck at something, does not mean that it sucks along with you.

O JEZZZZ.....Are you guys together????You sure act like it First of all i own my own studio so thats where my equipment is i have a 10 w marshall at home for my kids to use and i buy and sell guitars so thats how i got the jagstang,I not familiar with the vibrato system if you have a problem with me dont answer my posts
