It should. I'm almost toying with building parts just for this retrofit since it's a nice reversable way to get a hardtail.
My idea for this was to take the Mustang vibrato, turn the rear bar backward, and use washers to give enough space for a .60 Low E to fit, then put some metal sleeves around the Rocker bridge posts to hold it in place (a much better and cleaner solution than tape IMHO). As for sleeves, I'd just use some sort of pipe made of steel just thick enough to fill the space around the bridge and thimbles properly.
