Well, didn't sell the strat. The place I took it to gave me some rubbish about how they get alot of fakes, blah blah blah. I asked $200, they offered $80. No way. So ebay, it is
As fo the plans for the 51, they are similar to the plans I had for the strat, except more ambitious and conservative at the same time, and will result in a more unique item.
This is the guitar now...
The basic plan for the strat was to turn it from a Squier Strat into a Fender strat. Now the plan is to turn the 51 into some kind of bizarro 51/strat/tele/Mustang/other stuff bastard-creature. Should work out cheaper too.
The pickups are staying.
I plan on buying and installing this control plate (the top one).
I am going to chop away the strat horns into a more Mustang shape.
I intend to buy a pearloid 51 custom pickguard from guitarfetish.
And have it cut to bear some resemblance to the Mustang pickguard. This is a mockup I did in MS Paint.
You can see where I'm going with it.
The plan is then to refin the whole thing in Graffiti Yellow, or as close as I can find to it.
