i have one of these. first of all, what amp are you running this through? the stock pups are definitely trebly and bright, extremely so-to a fault. they also squeal easy. you won't be able to install a coil tap w/dragsters, and even if you did, it wouldn't sound like a normal jag since the coil would be wound to such a low impedance. in fact, the frequency peak would probably be to high for your amp's speakers (maybe even your ears) so you'd get less treble. to get a more standard single coil sound, get new pickups, either get humbuckers designed to have plenty of treble (humbucker from hell, EJ custom, tv jones, etc), ones designed to achieve true split tone (bluesbucker, stagmag, etc) or get a pg made for a japanese single coil jag, and put true singles in there
the tone pot has got ####ed up wiring, i actually modified the volume/tone wiring of mine today with great success. if you know how to solder, open up the guitar, and move the blue wire from the outside lug of the tone pot to the middle, effectively shorting out the resistor which muffles the tone and causes the huge volume drop. to get some more treble when you roll down the volume, move the wire that goes to the jack to the center lug of the volume pot.
result: much better tapers on both pots, although the volume pot's taper still isn't perfect, and better sounds at low volume settings
by the way, that won't affect the sound of the guitar with both rolled all the way up, it will be the same as stock.
