DS-1 (Robb you're not alone I only own 3 pedals and the ds-1 is my second fav my fav is over $100. I have a Vox Valvetronix so I use my amp's distortion most of the time)

i've got a ds-1 also , and i love it for all of its trebly painful sounds haha

All the treble problems... Won't rolling off tone controls take care of some of that?

Yeah but it still sounds scratchy and the tone sucks beyond belief

I've been battling gamely with it. This time 2 weeks ago I'd never even used a distortion pedal before.

And of those ten years, I've only really been playing for the first 3 months and last 10 months of that time. I'm little more than a beginner.

Check it out, it's the best high gain distortion I've ever used. And for a boutique pedal they are really inexpensive, only $99, which is just 19 dollars more than a big muff.

I was waiting for yr input. That will probably be my next venture. Seems like a nice blend of all of the old distortion pedals I've had, but just with that extra punch i want. You seem to always have the best info 😉 thanks

Past Distortion pedals..

DOD Turbo distortion - better than the DS-1 in Retrospec, too noisey though, and had the plastic stomp switch i'm not a fan of.

DS-1 - Noisey as all hell. Ugly at first, then swapped out a few caps and got a real nice mid boost as a result, still noisey.

EHX Russian Big Muff (Have had two)- Awesome, but i just lacked a little in the tone department. Something was just missing...

Boss MT-2 Metalzone - i liked its range in EQ, but the thing fedback so much it was intolerable. i'd describe it as "paper towel tube" distortion, if y'get what i mean; very middy.

EHX Muff Overdrive (Nano series) - what a joke 😆

Danelectro Bacon and eggs - it's like a tiny amp, but can be used as an overdrive pedal, it was actually kinda nifty, wish i still had the bugger

i've had a few others pass my away, but nothing noteable. Just a small review of the past distortion pedals i had

i was actually looking at that the other day, i need a pedal to go well with some sort of fender clean amp. . but i'm looking for something which can do like realyyyy heavy stuff(im thinking pantera, maybe a bit heavier for sh!ts 'n giggles)

would that dirty bomb do realy really high gain?

Friend and I built my "custom" pedals (modified clones) for less than 100$ so its a dead race - when I first heard the results, stopped using stock drive/dist/fuzz pedals...
