Looking at the Allan's Music website, it seems they have Squier Cyclone's available. I almost bought one of these late last year, had it on lay-by, but life changed and it wasn't to be.
I'm thinking I may buy a Cyclone (on lay-by) and eventually swap the pups from my 51 into the Cyclone and vice versa.
While I am paying off the Cyclone, I would make some mods to the 51 (some of the ones I have detailed elsewhere on the site), the but then swap the pickups and sell the 51.
Just speculating at this stage, but what I am really wondering is...
I LOVE the sound of my 51, and I am wondering how much tone I will lose (or gain) by putting the pups into the Cyclone, with the main issue being that 51=basswood, and Cyclone=alder?
I guess I will go to Allan's tomorrow, check the availability of Cyclone's (the website is probably out of date), and see what happens from there.
