And also a jagstang neck has popped up on ebay. This means I can sell the whole original guitar 😁

True that. But I haven't even come round to ordering yet.

Also the body will need chambering - mahogany is bloody heavy

Well, I'm not innocent either. I changed my plans for my Jagmaster 5 or 6 times before I decided.

I've also changed my plans for my 51 project, but that has been more out of financial concerns than anything else. I knew EXACTLY what I wanted with that, but it's been one compromise after another. Should still turn out pretty cool, though.

Also, how are you going to go about the chambering? I would think it would be an extremly difficult thing to do without messing it up.

Naa, just get mahogany thinner that I need and then another piece of mahogany.

I plan it like this: Trace jagstang off template onto big wood, chamber with a router, pop the ready cut thinner piece of wood on top and glue it down. then I route pickup holes 😁

And also I've decided to go for a set neck......which will be made of mahogany with ebony fretboard from warmoth 😲😎

It's amazing that someone actually likes the Jag-Stang shape so much they are going to build a completely ground-up guitar using the Jag-Stang body shape. 😉

Will you achieve these things (balance in particular) with the guitar you are building? I would have thought that mahogany+short scale would make it very bottom-heavy?

No no, PHYSICALLY bottom-heavy.

I would think if you played standing up, the weight would drop down and the headstock would be at shoulder height.

But I'm not too au fait waith these matters 😀

as I said I'd be chambering it to balance better...

It would sort of be an ongoing thing and I'll need to wait till july to get started (exams ☹ )

I used mahogany, if you do a 'swimming pool' route for the electronics it loses a fair bit of weight. Chambering is'nt necessary.

Also routing for a floyd loses a bit of weight.

But I still want tons of sustain, hence the set mahogany neck
