If you're putting a Floyd in you should totally install a Tremol-no, which allow you to make the Floyd function as a hardtail, full-floating trem, or strat trem. Also, it only takes about 2-3 seconds to switch to another mode (IE: switching from floating to hardtail). I'll make a list of the pros and cons of each mode so you'll understand how useful being able to switch between them is.
Full Floating Pros- up bends and down bends
Full Floating Cons- can't switch tunings, guitar goes out of tune if you break a string
Hardtail Pros- improved sustain, can tune up or down, stays in tune if you break a string
Hardtail Cons- no whammy
Strat Pros- can tune down, down bends, stays in tune if you break a string
Strat Cons- no up bends, I don't think you can tune up (you'd have to switch to hardtail first)
This would also make tuning and restringing the Floyd tons easier because you can put your guitar in hardtail mode, put new strings on, stretch the strings, tune your guitar to whatever tuning you have your floyd set up for, and then switch to full floating mode and be done with it. This eliminates having to tune your guitar like a billion times before it stays in tune.
