HERE WE GO!!!

So this is it so far. As you can see, the bridge pickup route has been a spectacular fail 😢 I've got something to fix it up though.

I'm not lefty, I just forgot to 'unflip' the image (Damn macs >☹)

I'm cutting it with a router and have got it thin enough for my giant 1/2" bit will do the rest for me. It is pretty slow going though.

I've yet to do the neck pocket :S

That looks... strange.

Those routes look REALLY close together, and the shpe of the body doesn't scream "Jag-stang" to me.

Still, it's a billion times better than I would have done, so keep it up 😀

The shape has changed slightly. I made the bottom horn lower to give better upper fret access and the butt is smaller so it will fit in a strat case.

The pickups aren't all that close, its just that the cavities are so large 😉

did you just use a router to cut out the body, what bit did you use?

I just used a standard straight bit to start with then I moved onto a stewmac guided bit.

For the final bit, I'll be using a giant 1/2" router bit with a ball bearing at the bottom - I'll be routing it from underneath.

I thinned it down by about 15mm with a #### ROUTER 😲

so as you can imagine, the back is as messy as hell, but a bit of planing should sort that out 😁

Now I need to get drilling the other bridge hole and the string holes....

Its nearly 9pm so I better work fast not to wake the neighbours (not like that #### party across the road won't be anyway 😠 )

Look's pretty raggedy to me, but it looks great none the less. And don't worry, your neighbors fear more for the safety of their children then you routing a guitar.

LOL! cool project tho, so are you going with that GFS neck or what?

Yeah. I bought the GFS neck and it looks cool. Only problem was that it needed the nut slot and nut.

I also used the GFS crunchy pats. I messed the the mounting holes for the top a bit though 😡

It needs like an 11mm hole 😕 .

Anyway, Someone is coming round with some G-clamps for the neck pocket, a power plane for that mess at the back, some woodglue to fill in that hole with a dowel or something and a freeview box to watch endless top gear repeats 😎

Body cut out 😁

If you don't already know, I'm using an 'isometric' neck plate which they use on what I think is called the 'strat deluxe' hence the funky neck pocket shape.... 😉

You can see the tom posts are in.... I left out the bushings and just drilled a 7mm hole and screwed the posts in with a drill. I got the post spacing out by a half a mm so it is a tight fit.

I also got a string ferrule hole out...... we'll see if that can be fixed.....

It is smooth now. I have a 50 grit sanding drum 😉

i have the mahogany, i have the neck with headstock shaped, but my dad wont let me use the router without him there so i cant do anything to the body except on weekends, hopefully this saturday we'll see some progress 😉

Im pleased to see this started. Your doing okay to say your not familiar with the tools.

Personally i would have routed the neck pocket before cutting out the body, i made the mistake of doing it afterwards and it was a pain.

Will it be string thru like Iceys?
