Here:

Filled in that hole and many others with dust and glue

There's the back. I've done the control cavity route and filled in the worst of the gouging cased by my using a router as a thickness planer. I also manages to make a right c0ck up of the back guard placement hence the pile of wood shavings 😆

I've had too many near misses with this one, I think I need to slow down a tad. I still have my friday deadline though 😆

The neck has been glued in, just need to wait for it to dry. I'll wait overnight just to be on the safe side.

Also, the mess at the back has been sorted thanks to Fran's exact double lending me his power plane 😆

Sorry for the glary picture, but the sun is REALLY bright and I can't really move it.

I also glued in the nut which looks pretty good.

You can see the little orange laser thing I used to ensure the neck was straight in the corner. 99p in the 99p store. VERY useful

iirc they glue first when they build rickenbackers 😉

Naa, I want it to have that sort of one piece look. I think I might glue a piece of wood in there to make the heel more rounded. I'll leave the neck plate out completely now. Its a set neck guitar now 😎

The body is STUPIDLY light. Probably because of the small size, the HUGE control cavity and the fact its 3cm thick 😆

It should be tenoned in really if its a set-neck, i would'nt rely on the glue alone. Personally, because you've purchased a bolt-on neck i would put 4 screws in (like you would with a neck plate) but countersink them and fill over. When its finished no one will know and it will make a much stronger joint.

I'd actually been thinking of that

I'll just use some of those zinc plated woodscrews. I didn't think that sort of joint would be a great idea myself hence the neck plate.

I also think that neck is REALLY fat. I wonder what Dave Mustaine would think of it 😛

Interesting you said zinc screws, it may be worth getting some advice on this as i have forgotten off the top of my head but...

The acid in hardwood corrodes certain metals, traditionally Carpenters used brass screws because of the resistance to this. You may need 'tropicalized' screws, or maybe zinc will be okay.

Half the tuners vibrated off from some of the post neck gluing drilling 😆

Its looking pretty nice, except the bridge is in slightly the wrong place. from the bridge to nut is a mm or two over 25.5 inches :S

The pickups are on the wonk too..... well thats a price to pay for not using a template 🙄😆
