Jagstang build DEMOS ON PAGE 11!!

how is this project coming along? Is the body really small cause in the last photo the body looked really mini like Jr. body or something, might just be the angle. But I am curious don't worry i like Teh M3tAlZ too

Yeah, the neck is a lot longer than the original and the neck pocket sits in the same place as the original jagstang so it looks really long. Also the body is slightly smaller because I took about an inch off the original butt and moved the lower horn too.

Whats so wierd is how DAMN LIGHT the thing is 😲 I think its just 3cm thick now.

I haven't done much work on it lately. Just a bit of sanding and sorting that mess of a back cavity. I've done a bit more sculpting of curves and contours and even added a contour to the lower horn for comfort.

Unfortunately strowger stopped keeping grain filler last year, so I'm off to selhurst to get some from S.L Hardwoods. Good shop apparently. So it looks like I'll be doing the grain today, final sanding tomorrow and painting on wednesday if the weather looks up. Then it needs to hang up and cure till sunday. After that, its just installing the bridge (which is now in the right place) popping ferrules and pickups in and wiring the thing up.

Should be rockin' by this time next week 😁

omg that is a nice jackson. . . i have a dk2m in trans black 😛 love that thing although i dont play it at all and may sell it. . but will probably just keep it cos it has a floyd so i just have one if its needed 😁

So today, I managed to fill in the edge of the backplate and re-route it with a template I made because I'm too cheap to get some from stewmac 😛

Now the plate fits perfectly although the screwholes are a bit off and I made a bit of a mistake in relation to one of the string ferrules, but its no disaster. Now I've just got SH!TLOADS OF SANDING TO DO..... WOOHOO!! ☹

Done the sanding, primer and two coats of gloss 😁

Bloody nasty stuff though! My index finger has started to disintegrate 😲

Its not really glossing either, and the instructions are sh!te. Hopefully I'll get some shine after a few more coats.

I do have another strap button to put on and of course the strings. Its shielded and wired, painted. The finish is pretty crap though. Its as soft as cake icing and rough in places 😕

Still, I'm chuffed with it 😁

Holy crap, you outdid my first build by a long shot, and mine was at 15 as well. I wish I had photos of that thing. The Van-Halen II Jaguar. Black and Yellow, ugly as sin, had a Kahler with 2 Lawnmower engine bolts holding it on, the body was oversized and made of pine (and badly routed), had 2 single coils to make a humbucker in the bridge, and a Harmony Strat neck. Sounded great though. Painted it with the Redneck favorite....Krylon, and used Duct-Tape for masking tape. Eventually tried to build a wannabe Bass VI out of it with plexiglass Jaguar control plates on it.

I wish my old stuff came out this good. Kudos.

Good point by Mad-Mike. Its okay everyone criticizing this project but for a 15 year old with no previous experience and minimal woodworking skills its an accomplishment.

I have to say i do agree, most people wouldn't be able to do anything like this, or even be bothered, so as a first project and stuff well done 😲

Y'know I played it today 😁 FIRST TIME!!!

The action at the nut was WAAAY too high so I lowered it with a hacksaw and file. Now its pretty much perfect except the high E string is a bit too low so there is buzz but only when it is open.

The action is about 2mm with no buzz on any fret up and down the neck. Its intonated PERFECTLY and the sound....... It sounds sort of thick and heavy with tons of sustain. JUST what I as aiming for!!
