The acid in hardwood corrodes certain metals, traditionally Carpenters used brass screws because of the resistance to this. You may need 'tropicalized' screws, or maybe zinc will be okay.

Oh, thought I should post what I've actually done......

I've deepened the control cavity, drilled all the holes for the pots and stuff, done a bit of work on the heel (more work still 😵 ) and more sanding.

Also, the shape has changed quite a bit. I've taken 3 cm off the butt and a lowered the bottom horn.

right, so I've had to move the bridge *facepalms*

Also moving the string ferrules because they're a bit close and some of them got messed up because the drill was vibrating. I think this guitar classifies as MDF now 😆

You need to slow down a bit and take more time with stuff!

You can fill the wrong bridge holes with dowel and glue but let it set overnight. Do the same with the ferrule holes with ####tail sticks (they are hardwood) and glue.

Next day: Use a drill guide (or drill press) so the holes are drilled at a right angle to the body and use a BRADPOINT drill bit. They have a guide point on them so the hole wont wander off by the time it reaches the other side (common mistake with ferrule holes).

I know. I've doweled up that #### and also done the screws in the neck and filled them over.

Used a power plane for the arm contour and heel. The heel is so comfy now 😲

The back is still a bit of a mess though ☹

Right, went with my mum to B&Q for paint.

At the till, the guy looked at me like I was a complete thug and even though I was with my mum, he told her He couldn't sell it. Then I said 'yeah, if I was gonna spray #### on a wall, I'd sand it, seal it, prime it, paint it, and add clearcoat because as your typical thug, I'd want a perfect finish right?'

Good luck Mco. I usually bring a hammer to places so when people don't sell me things. I bash their face in with a hammer. Just say you did it for de lulz and the manager will get the humor and let you go.

I had a dream last night that I found a Jag-Stang-like guitar on a train. It only had one string.

It was red (Dakota or Torino, I think). I will try and sketch it up and post it here.

It was like a Jag-Stang, but the curves were not as extreme. Looked awesome 😁
