Korean made Gretsch Electromatics
seriously GREAT guitars for the money ($600ish), sound great, play well, stay in tune, pickups, fit/finish are excellent. Plus it's got tons of old-school vibe.
remember hollowbodies take a lot more work to build, so you're gonna get what you pay for, and there isn't many cheap alternatives, like there are solid body fenders..
