I wish I knew more about this because I'd like to do this mod. ☹

I love my Jag, don't get me wrong, it's just got a LOT of treble when the top horn switch (i still have no idea what any of these are called/do to be honest) is down.

When it's up, there's so much low end it's unusable. I tried adding more bottom end via my equalizer pedal and it helped tremendously, but still...it sounds a bit too "nasaly."

Ah well. Guess I'll just have to deal.

Lowing the value of your pots is the same as turning down your 1M pots. In the case of the tone pot; by lowering the resistance you are allowing more high frequencies to bleed through capacitor to ground.

My advice is that if you really feel the need to do this mod and don't want to simply turn down the tone setting on you guitar then do it the cheap way and buy a 1M resistor from Maplin/Radio Shack/RS components and solder it to the tone pot. Connect one leg of the resistor to the lug where the pickup wire connects (blue wire on jag) and the other led to the lug where the capacitor connects (not the earthed end of the cap!!). Make sure the resistor legs touch no other part of the circuit or the casing of the pot. You have now lowered your tone pot to 500k and should notice a 'rounding' of the pickup tone, no more ice pick.

I should add that if you want to take your pot down to 250k buy a 1M resistor and a 500k resistor, twist both legs together (so the two are in parallel) and wire as described above. Alternatively you could also use a 1.5M resistor to get a slightly higher value of around 270k that you often find on fenders.
