Fuzz pedals?

What are your favorites? I've got a big muff, which does a great lead sound, and some nice crunching, but i'm looking for something more nasty and snarling, and better for chording. What do you guys think? I'm leaning towards a fuzz-face type, who does the best fuzz face in your opinion?

i am looking into the MI Audio Blues Pro Overdrive Pedal, overdrive i know. but it has a Fuzz switch! ;D what about a zvex? they look good. but i dont know much about fuzz pedals really and i really dont like the big muff (even tho i have one).

zvex is very overpriced, but if the mammoth was under 200$, i'd buy it. i think the fuzz factory is the kind of pedal you absolutely have to try yourself before buying it...

well, i dont know about over there but you can pick them up secondhand for 200AUS over here...

my next distortion pedal will definetly be or leads and gilmour type solos, probably get a RAT in the end. . .

i love my russian for solos, but it definitely doesn't cut through the mix. you should get a wicker muff, w/tone bypass. or, just mod it...

think i found it... GE fuzz face clone, w/bias + some kind of tone mod, 125$.

I just use my Big Muff and Double Muff. The Double has a great crunchy tone when you play chords through it, I love it.

How's about that new Dano fuzz pedal, the orange one? I've never used one... Just a thought as they're cheap 😉

There's also the MJM London Fuzz if you're looking for the fuzz face thing.

That wilson fuzz looks cool too, that's the type of fuzz I like.

so buy it, it's hard to find boutique, cheap pedals, and we need to support this guy... he has some other cool pedals as well. one's a fuzz face into a modded TS into a boost. TS's aren't my thing, but that's still a great idea for a pedal. then he has the shocktavia, which is an octave or two (switchable) down, into an octavia, both footswitchable.

Dude his pedals are so reasonably priced for what he's offering. He's got some really cool looking wahs too.

I really like that Grasshopper pedal and the 4 knob fuzz, when I have the money I'll pick one up.

I need a new wah so I may check out that Vintage Spec Rippah Q-wah, it's a tuneable wah that uses all NOS components. I've paid 300 dollars for a wah before and he's asking under 200 for most of his hand build wahs.

Oh and on the MI Audio Blues Pro, they're awesome, but the fuzz setting doesn't really sound that much like a fuzz.

the only negative for these pedals is the 2 week wait on most, but that's made up for by the positives. His phaser looked interesting as well.

I totally will next paycheck, I spent 150 bucks today to get my laptop repaired.

Big Muffs, I have 9 vintage and modern muffs. EHX and Sovtek.

The only stock muffs I hate are Sovtek ones, even the popular green one sucks stock.

The only muffs I havent modded are NYC RI's, a 81 and a 78 opamp muff and the new BMP+TW

The BMP+TW is possibly the best muff ever made, its very nice indeed.

Don't like fuzz factories?(i don't like oscillating fuzzes anyways, I like them "simple" and "normal")_, they are too thin...I came up with a very simple mod for fuzz factories years ago, nowadays everyone online is doing it. They do sound better after the mod, more guts and bass.

I generally just use big muffs or a distortion of some sort occasionally,usually something by tech 21 or a full sized metal muff for heavy riffs tuned in B.

I also have a woolly mammoth, its a sick fuzz, very simple circuit which is almost a fuzz face in a way but not, sounds great anyways...the sub frequencies are intense!

I also like the DBA FuzzWar, it sounds cool! I'm yet to buy it.

Ah yes, one reason for the Jazzmaster project I've been working on, Fuzztone stuff....

I adore my Zvex Vexter Fuzz Factory. I've found more uses for that thing beyond just fuzz (8-bit NES type sine wave bleeps, bring some brightness in dull transistor gear with one setting, theramin just using the pedal itself).

First Fuzz pedal I ever used was a BOSS HyperFuzz with a 62' Reissue MIJ Jazzmaster with upgraded pickups through it, that was THE sound I wanted back then. Just monsterous sounding, sort of like Dinosaur Jr.-ish tone. I still remember that pedal fondly, and might procure one someday, assuming I ever build a bigger pedalboard.

Then I played a green Sovtek Big Muff PI through a Fender Twin with a 60' Telecaster Custom reissue. I wanted to try the pedal after hearing Peter Buck used one on REM's Monster album.

I still remember that wooly almost distortion-like sound I had, f'n' HUGE sound for a Telecaster.

I tend to use Fuzz as a secondary distortion effect of sorts these days. Sometimes I don't want that tight midrangey Marshall-like crunch, and I don't want a scooped metal sound, that's when I reach for the Fuzz pedal usually. I love Fuzz for rhythm work, and especially on a Jazzmaster on the rhythm circuit with the rollers up full blast. run through a good amp.

my friend brought round his big muff with tone wicker. . . sounded pretty good, but he actually prefered the sound of my black russian muff. . . his sounded pretty good, but i think i may just buy a USA big muff pi over the muff with TW

My favorite fuzz I've found is the Earthquaker Devices Hoof Fuzz, it's like a Russian Muff but better. It sounds great on chords and leads, and still cuts through in a mix. Also stacks really well with other pedals. I think it's a combination of germanium and silicon transistors, so it's not quite as high gain as an all silicon but has that nice germanium warmth.

I have been using both silicon and germanium fuzz face style fuzz pedals.. but they usually sound "dark" with my Jaguar, and I don't know why. Fuzz face usual problem is that it's too much bright with other guitars!

Do someone else had this happening?
