This is my first post, so forgive me if someone has already asked this, but I'm having a heck of a time with my AV Jazzmaster. The strings are really hard to bend, compared to some strats I've tried, and the high E keeps breaking when I try to bend it up a whole step at the 10th fret (it's one particular riff that reliably causes the string to snap. I took it in to my guitar teacher and he was mystified. The string is snapping exactly where I'm bending it, not at the bridge or at the nut. I've tried different guages of strings (9 through 11), different brands, etc. For some reason the high E seems inordinately difficult to bend, and when I do bend it up a whole step, it snaps in half.
At first I thought it had to do with the setup Fender did at the factory. There were three pieces of cardboard in the neck pocket to angle the neck. I took out two, and the bending got easier, but it's still not as easy as on my guitar teacher's strat. I'm afraid to take out the last piece of cardboard, lest the bridge start buzzing horribly...
Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions as to what might be causing this?.
