That doesn't surprise me at all.
All the big guitar manufacturers rave about the tolerances on their CNC machines, yet the
Gibson scale has crept away from their original standard over the years.
It's not any easy thing to do making a perfect guitar, and while machines can do them faster and more accurately, they can make mistakes too, and Fender are not going to bin a guitar that can make them (insert the price of a new AVRI here).
