Which dimarzio SD humbucker is the best one for a mustang?

This one, the DiMarzio super distortion S, or DP218. Full hum canceling and sounds almost 100% to the full size version.

Its four conductor (as you can see) but i removed all four wires, jumpered the black and white and added two cloth covered leads to mine. I love how these have a PCB base,easy for swapping leads etc.

Whats the difference between f spaced and standard? Which is preferred for a mustang?

I thought they were all F spaced since they are made for strats. if they aren't you will have to get some measurements cause i have no idea. Ican measure mine from end to end in millimeters if you need.

I was just now reading about a Semour Duncan JB and the add said that it was G spaced. This confuses me. So now there is F, G, and standard spacing. Maybe Danny is right.

g- spaced is the same as standard spaced.

But yeah, i agree on the single coil sized replacements. JB Jr, Hot Rail, etc.

'F' spaced is generally for guitars with tremolo and Fender models (a lot of Ibanez models use F space pickups), so the strings will line up over the pole pieces.

In the past i have used mis-aligned pickups and to be honest, i could not tell any difference other than it did'nt look right.

I too have used misaligned ones, made no difference IMO.

I had (still have) a G spaced humbucker in my jaguar with a stock bridge, didnt line up right till I put a TOM on it. Now the neck pickup doesn't line up right but the bridge does. Doesn't sound any different either way IMO. I like the TOMs cause I like the narrower string spacing for pick attack, the fender spacing is just a tad too wide for my liking. Plus the TOM gets rid of a lot of jaguar/jazzmaster bridge/buzz/slippage related problems. With the tuning I have it in it just intonates with the TOM, that's the risk you take using gibson bridges on fender guitars with weird a$$ tunings I spose.

when i got my "humbucker" a guy told my about the fender and gibson spacing.

G was standard, and F was special design for fender guitars.

i have actually a G spaced in the neck and a F spaced in the bridge.

i got a jag with a tom!

the poles seem to be closed to getter but its hardly noticeable with the eye.

no strings are of, so its fine.

i think its bull####.(sorry)

My jaguar has G spaced humbuckers and a TOM, the only issue is the neck pup doesn't line up 100%, I couldn't care about it though as it still sounds the same. I gutted all the electronics in my jaguar and its just wired p.ups>toggle>volume pot>output jack,I'm heavily influenced by Kim Gordon's jaguar. I call it a jagblaster but some people think you MUST have WRHB for that, I don't!

Read the Dimarzio FAQ, it tells you to measure the string spacing at some points to help you decide if you need F spacing or regular spacing. I think I figured out once that I need an F spaced one in the bridge and a normal spaced one in the neck position (That's on a japanese jaguar with an Adjusto-matic)

the pickguard has to be cut exactly on the precise millimeter also.

if its half a millimeter off then there is no need to talk about F or G spacing

the differences are really minimal so you have to count this also for the perfect alignment.

at least thats what i think!!

Not sure of the year, I know Kim's had it for a long time. It's US vintage. Its got a SD SH8 invader in the bridge and an AVRI jag neck pup, it used to have the vintage neck pup but it seems she swapped it out in recent months.
