I have mixed feelings on this....
On one hand, I understand doing outrageous stuff on stage as a rocker. It's what makes things so entertaining. It's not like I have not rained bits of metal tubing when I smashed my guitar stand months ago.
But on the other hand, he could not have executed it in a more amazing yet stupid way. You're playing a gig, and at a major corporate place like Hard Rock no less, where there's going to be security out the wazoo. "liberating" a guitar in front of sercurity is kind of like going up to a police officer in New York and "liberating" your concealed handgun for no real reason except to be a "badass". Macho bull#### is meaningless to me without some sort of substance or good reasoning behind it. Nobody gets hurt, but it's a sign of disrespect to a higher authority.
And if I were that guitar...I would not appreciate having a mic stand that ####in' close to my neck, especially with strings that have got to be at least 15-20 years old.
