possible mustang owner

after many thoughts of geting a new guitar i've made up my mind on what i want to save up and get i've finally decided to get a mustang and i wanted to know how good are they how do they sound are they good for shorter hights how well do they play and so on.

i've played stangs in the past but not enough to know their sound i also have a first-act stang copy with double humbuckers and a les paul switch but i can'nt imagine real stangs sounding the same as my copy.

mustangs have less sustain because the SS and the trem. they also have low output PU's 4ish K. they are a bit like a strat, but with less tone options.

are you thinking of going, 65' 69' RI or vintage?

vintage if i can find one or 65 ri but if they sound like a strat i'd like them but i like their body shape beter because the way the contures are shaped they fit beter to my waist.by less tone control do you mean you have to set every tone from the amp or it either sounds really treble or really bass?(it sounds that way mostly because of the 1 tone knob my copy has the same set up as a real mustang so they probally sound pretty similar when i think about it).

also i though of doing what kurt did to the trem and having it's springs taken out and held down with washers because i personally hate the trem my self.

i meant not as many tonal options as a strat.

why do you only want a 65 or a vintage? also, if you don't have much money (or your family or whatever) i don't think you should go vintage. i think you need to have played for a bit longer to really justify it (and the price).

as for trem locking it, i would not do that if i was you, just take the trem arm off.

I have a 65 Reissue Mustang and i love it till death!!!!!!!

It feels great, plays great, sounds great. (you may want to put a humbucker/hotrail in the bridge to get a more rock/grungy kinda sound)

Can't go wrong i think. But keep in mind to always try some other guitars as well, cus you may like some other guitar even more!!!! (always check the neck and see if everything works right.) 😉

1. Vintage ones are at least $1200. You're best of going for an american reissue if you can afford it.

2. They don't really.

3. Whatever suits you man.

4. Thats stupid. You'll damage the knife edge which is vital for the tuning stability when using the trem. The next owner will need to get a new plate. You may as well get a hardtail guitar.

You should get a squier classic vibe duo. Its shortscale like a mustang and also the routing underneath allows you to put in a full size humbucker or a phase switch. If you do go for that, get a bright sounding pickup in the bridge because that pickup is a fair way away from the bridge.

but stangs neck PU do sound a bit like strats.

My stagemaster sounds SO stratty on the neck and middle position. I've really grown to love that guitar as it is. The stock pickups are actually really good 😀

It really needs new strings tho.

i thought it was a strat, or at least almost the same thing.

i might look into some squiers i havent really seen many squires though just bullets and strats and for fenders only guitars i've seen are strat,tele,stang,jag,and js.(theirs not really that much option in guitars around here theirs mostly gibson based stores around here i've been thinking of looking at a cyclone though but i cant find one.)

I assume you have a library in your town, no? After all, what the heck town doesn't? I would advise you to go to your local library and use the internet there to get a guitar if you want one that a local music shop doesn't have.
