1. Vintage ones are at least $1200. You're best of going for an american reissue if you can afford it.

4. Thats stupid. You'll damage the knife edge which is vital for the tuning stability when using the trem. The next owner will need to get a new plate. You may as well get a hardtail guitar.
You should get a squier classic vibe duo. Its shortscale like a mustang and also the routing underneath allows you to put in a full size humbucker or a phase switch. If you do go for that, get a bright sounding pickup in the bridge because that pickup is a fair way away from the bridge.
