I just had a look at the guitars they sell. I've never really bothered before. Some great hybrids there. I love the idea of the tele with P-90's, but I had to show these.

I cried salty wistful tears when I saw these.

how many inches from bridge saddles to the heel of the neck, from a full scale and a short scale?

I'm not sure. It probably depends on which string and where the intonation is set.

Thought I'd give the question a bump anyway.

That yellow tele has given me an idea for 'plan B' in the unlikely event of the jagmaster neck project not working....i'll have the new strat neck put on my tele. As for the jagmaster i'll have the headstock cut and sanded down to a 'small strat headstock' shape, or at least more like a jazzmaster. Which will mean sanding off the squier+jagmaster logo etc.

Just remember that strat necks and tele necks have different shapes at the pocket end.

I know, but thanks for the tip anyway. i believe a strat neck will fit in a tele pocket but a tele neck doesnt fit on a strat body. in general.

That is correct. If you don't mind the gap in the pocket.

yeah i could live with that. Anyway my jagmaster has yet to arrive and i'm getting pissed off about it, shouldve known better its one of those online shops so if i ring and cancel it tomorrow the thing will probably be on its way. ordered online on sunday it shouldve been here by now. couldve got something quicker elsewhere, i need to get cracking with this project.

never buying online again !

what kind of shipping did you use cuz it usually takes them 2-3 days to process your order, and then however long it takes to ship, plus I'm not sure if they work on Saturdays, they might've just started processing your order on Monday...

GAK - they promise next day delivery, but as it was a sunday i thought wed or thurs fair enough but i'll chase it up tomorrow

some ppl have had awful experiances with gak but they have been awesome to me!. ordered my jazzmaster on the wednesday and it was here on the friday!! nanoverb came next day which was sweet!

phoned them last week - it was out of stock (shoulda got the black one on Ebay !!!) but should be with me this wed or thursday.

then i can whip the pickguard off, send it away for a black one cut whilst i hand the guitar to the luthier with my neck and pups etc.

Is there much demand for jagmaster necks and humbuckers on Ebay etc? i'll have some going spare in a week or two !

Hi everyone! This is my first post here =)

I also ordered my Jagmaster a while ago in the local Fender Shop and waiting for it to arrive. Sold my Epiphone Les Paul Standard because the neck was too fat and I have small hands. I also like the 9.5" fingerboard radius more than the 12" on the LP.

And my question is about the neck of the JM:

1. So it is a 24" conversion neck with 21 frets with the last fret being closer to the end, does that mean that the fret-spacings are the same as 25.5 necks, and it's only 24" because of the missing fret, OR are the frets closer to each other too?

I'm just asking because I didn't have a chance to play it in the shop since they didn't have one in stock, and would like to get an idea what it'll be like, compared to my cousin's Squier standard stratocaster's neck, which is 25.5" with 9.5" radius (I got that from him to use until I get my Jag).

I am a Jagmaster owner, so maybe I can help a bit...

1 - It's definitely a shorter-scale guitar. Holding the guitar face to face with a full-scale, you would see that the frets ARE closer together. And it's noticible when playing too. Also, I think on most 22-fret fretboards, the 22nd fret actuallt sits past the end of the neck pocket, kind of overhangs. 22-fret guitars and 21-fret guitars have the same fret spacing (if they are both the same scale) with the extra fret intruding beyond the pocket.

2 - The neck is C-shape. Rather a thin profile, and very comfortable (in my opinion). In Squier terms, it's thicker than an Affinity Strat, but thinner than a Standard strat. Great intermediate shape.

It's great to hear this, because the standard strat has a very a comfortable neck (a lot better than the LP was) but while playing that I always thought that it would be even better if the frets were a bit closer together. So now I think that the Jagmaster will be the perfect guitar for me =)

I just can't wait to get my hands on it!

So.. still ain't got my Jagmaster, they said it only gonna arrive in january. Damn, I can hardly wait! =D But the guy in the shop said they will do the mods I want to it (well, he didn't say for free, but let's hope for the best =D ).

I did a photoshop mockup of it :

I want it to be a very versatile, kind of "all in one" guitar, so that's why I'm putting P-Rails in it, and of course, the upper plate switches will operate the pickups (I know it will require some routing).

The vertical 2-way Jaguar switch will be the series/parallel for the humbucking mode, and I'm thinking about getting 3-way Mustang switches into the roller knob slots, which will be P90-HB-Rail for each pickup. I just don't know how the switches will fit into the slots, allparts.com says "Requires 13/16" cavity depth and 5/16" x 13/16" slot . 1-13/32" screw spacing" which is about 8mm x 20mm slot. Looking at some pictures I assume Jaguar slots are bigger than that (I hope not too big), so that shouldn't be a problem, but I just don't know for sure.

Also, dunno if that's a good idea or not, but I don't want to drill new holes in the control plate for the switches' screws, as it already looks a bit crowded there, so I think about glueing them on to the plate. And put dummy screws in the place of the original roller knobs' mounting plate screws for the looks.

So this is my plan so far, is there anything I'm thinking wrong or that can't be done about the mod?

I'm not sure about fitting Mustang switches into the roller knob slots, but everything else certainly sounds doable
