Building a Jaguar

This is post is a way for me to get information from jaguar owners(since this would be my first), ideas, suggestions etc...

this is not a "I may start a build thread" I so far have order the Body, neck and most components

it will be a red fiesta with a mix of modern and vintage trades.

so here I go:

Body and headstock fiesta red

White pickguard

Pickups ???

Jaguar Vibrato

Tuners - Open for suggestions

Pickup control : no idea yet

Mustang Bridge

2nd Circuit control ; Open to sugestions

Lead Circuit set normal

this is somewhat of slow build since I have school and work, plus my money priority goes to not being homeless.

I will post picture later on my progress

Got my self a jagmaster 24' neck,I have stripped of all paint and lacquer.

I have refill the wholes with wooden tooth picks since it has been drill a few times for diferent tuners

does anyone have a better way to stain the neck to that nice golden fender color?

what about a a custom switch plate, with just one mustang switch insted of the 3 jaguar ones? who could do that kind of job?

There was someone on offset who did that sort of work.

He used some very highly polished 1.5mm thick aluminium to make custom jag plates.

Welcome to the forum.

Is that Jagmaster neck a Vista model neck? As far as i remember the other models use conversion necks, its not true 24" scale. If you use that you will have to set your bridge further back than the original Jaguar bridge... meaning a custom cut pickguard.

How did you stripe that finish off the neck. Hadn't ran into anything that can remove poly finishes... can't imagine they used nitrocellulose lacquer on the Jagmaster

I used chemicals and all the hard stuff that would not come out no matter what i sanded it off.

I will post picture of the body once i receive it and the paint process

Neck Amber replicates the amber look used on the classic Fender necks as well as many other solid body electric necks. It is shown here on maple. The color can be adjusted from the darker look of the fifties and sixties to the lighter look of the seventies by varying the number of passes sprayed. The aerosol contains the correct color dye mix but has no lacquer in the mix. Therefore, it must be clear coated after the color has been applied.

The neck I currently maybe change later on so I'm not sure if I want to finish it yet.

I am thinking of gettin a all maple neck, but not sure how maple will go on this guitar.

Sorry for the delay, but I'm still waiting for the body.

the neck is finish, just waiting to get me a new drill so i can install the tuners

heres some pictures

the nut slot was crack so put glue on it so it would hold and at the end its barely noticeable unless you actually look for it

the neck color is pretty light compare to some of the new fenders, but i dint feel like over doing it.

there are a few mistakes but not mayor, and can only be seen if looked for

also added a lil quote, just to mark it i guess

the neck color can barely be notice soon il post picture of it compare to my uncolored telecaster

happy with my work, now cant wait for the body

$192 for a Jaguar body! Where did you buy it from?

I'm not a fan of replacement tuners, stick with Kluson. The washers on the tuners, on the face of the headstock look goofy big to me.

Check out the Mustang below, I took a Jagstang neck, shaved the headstock and installed new Schaller tuners. Still gonna paint the headstock white with a Mustang decal, just hadn't gotten around to it yet. But you can see the difference between Klusons on the Jagstang and Schaller tuners.

I must say that the finish on that neck looks beautiful to me... very well done! I cannot wait to see the finished result. As far as pickups go I've heard nothing but good things about anything that Lace makes, so I would assume that they sound pretty darn good. Aesthetically, however, metal pickups such as the alumitones and lipstick tube pickups and even regular humbuckers with chrome covers have always looked really wonky to me... and being a Jaguar there's a ton of metal parts on it as it is and metal pups would just be overkill imo (that's one of my issues with the appearance of a lot of HH Jags). However, in the end sound is all that matters, so go with what sounds best to you.

I have killed the neck due to me being a perfectionist 😐

at the moment the neck would only work if made to look like a relic, i will redo it soon.

the body has finally been finish and will be shipped to me on friday

I got the rest of the parts exept the vary tone control, cause i havent order it yet.
