Well I really can't say much for my build I'm 5'6 and about 110lbs on the subject of Gibson snobs I belong to a Gibson website called MyLesPaul where its 100% Gibson/Epiphone owners mostly I have yet to meet a snobby person on there and there are people who imo have the right to be a tad bit snobby since 3 members actually own real 1958,1959 and 1960 Gibson Bursts in beautiful condition but there down to earth. However Gibson's Les Paul forum seems to be snob central but overall it comes down to the person not the instrument I've spoken to well over 200 people who have AMAZING collections of Vintage Gibsons as well as incredibly expensive reissues but there all very down to earth and don't really care that they have a Gibson in fact all of them will tell ya that tone is in the fingers.
On the subject of neck thickness I can't speak for every Gibson and I've heard this huge neck thing for quite awhile but I have yet to find a single Gibson neck that was really huge. I'd take some pictures but the largest Gibson neck I have (on the Les Paul Studio) is just a tab bit thicker then my Fender Mustangs neck. My SG and Jimmy Page Les Paul have slimmer necks then any Fender I own! However that can be explained by the fact the Jimmy Page has a very thin shaved neck that's unique from any Gibson or other guitar really.
But really its all a matter of preference I used to not really like Gibson's till I got one of my own and saw that they are really reliable and incredibly solid instruments but I will say I've never had a problem with Fender guitars not being solid as all my Fenders have always been spectacular. Only guitars I ever had trouble with are Epiphone and PRS, to this day I refuse to ever own a PRS as they are imo THE BIGGEST RIP OFFS IN THE GUITAR WORLD! But I refrain from further comments on PRS as I don't feel like debating here lmao. Anyway as with all instruments if the tones right for you its right for you however being overpriced isn't just Gibson related its most guitars in general even Fender, for what they charge for some of there guitars is pretty expensive considering there bolted on and finished in poly with little to no human assistance, there still great guitars but lets be realistic most things theses days are over priced.
And Kurdt bolt on necks doesn't mean you cant smash the neck or whatever the Kurt trick is....You can pull back on a set neck and make it have a "vibrato" type effect its not hard at all, and u can break bolt in necks and really they are way cooler when they break just ask my Jimmy Page les paul.
