TUBE COMBO AMPS

I want to buy a tube combo amp. Somewhere between 10w to 60w. Preferably at the 15w range because it will just be my jam/practice amp in my room. Later I plan on getting a Marshall JVM410H Head and a Orange PPC 212 Cab for whenever I do gigs or jam down with the band. Ive been looking at the Fender Super Champ XD but I don't know lol. I want a tube amp that can handle distortion nicely. What are your suggestions? 😲

I would say the Orange Dual Terror it's 7/15/30watts, 2 channel and has a very nice distortion.

i would look into the tiny terror combo or a Vox AC15, Oh And BLACKSTAR HT-5.

marshall makes a new 5w combo thats pretty good for the price. for bedroom practice 5w is about all you need. they can get pretty loud. the epi blues custom is far for the prise and is 30w (Ithink). with some light mods most cheap tube combos can sound pretty sweet.

What you said in OP wasn't helpful at all I'm afraid.

60 watts tube has pretty much the same perceived volume as 100 watts, the 100 watter will have more clean headroom though. 60 watts tube is insanely loud. 30 watts tube is insanely loud. 10 watts is insanely loud. 1 watt cranked is #### loud. The reason people get higher wattage heads is for clean headroom, and for avoiding power amp saturation (most metalheads will look for pre-amp distortion).

Also, screw the JVM... Get a good Marshall... Get a Splawn.

I'm willing on spending up to $800.00 to get a pretty good tube amp.

I play a lot of styles of music. Mostly on the heavier side. I want a tube amp that sounds good with distortion because I don't want to use any distortion pedals. The only pedal ill probably use is a Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal. For my guitars currently right now just my Jagmaster which im going to replace the stock Seymour Duncans with a DiMarzio Super Distortion (Bridge) and a DiMarzio Paf Pro (Neck) this week as soon as they come in. 😁

LOL! Yes its a confession haha. Yes its a contradiction my life is filled with them lol. I said kinda.

To tell you the truth I don't really care about the voicing. I just want a cool little tube combo amp to practice/jam in my room. I plan on buying a stack later on as soon as the money flows in. As for heaviness....System Of A Down-ish, Metallica-ish, Nirvana's Album Bleach-ish. I also play a lot of White Stripes songs. Different music man. Something with good distortion and at 15w lol. 😆

You might want to look at some bogner of some sort if money is no problem.

However, that crate amp I suggested is great and available for half your budget.

Nope, Big muffs Are fuzz pedals.

Nope, big muffs are distortion pedals, technically, if you look at the circuit. It also sounds like a distortion pedal more than a fuzz, unless you bring up the sustain control. There are certainly fuzzy sounds to be had.

A head and 212 isn't what I'd consider a stack, but that is a far better idea than getting a 212 combo, so go ahead with that. Just avoid the JVM...

Now i'm considering a Orange Tiny Terror Combo Amp. I like the fact that it sounds good and you can switch from 15w to 7w. Anybody who disagrees that i shouldn't get the Tiny Terror please speak now lol. Ill check out that Blackstar HT-5. Dude im kinda high I don't need stack lol.

I like the 212 for some reason. Why should I avoid the JVM?

Wheres a good website to buy Orange products? I buy gear at nearest and only local music store thats 20 miles away from where I live which don't sell orange products. Online I have bought from Musician's Friend a couple of times. I live in a small town in California long ways from big cities.

Definitely go for the Tiny Terror man. Those amps are killer! And its a good choice for the music you play. Plus the 7-15 watt thing is awesome to have on a practice amp.

Best amp EVAR!!!!! although it definitely isn't what you're after.... um I'd say a Marshall would prolly be you're best bet, Oranges are definitely good too..... um...... aside from those I'd recommend maybe a Peavey or a Bugera....

I'd say that they're more of distortion pedals with some fuzz around the edges.... although most people in my circles classify them as fuzz pedals
