i would agree. i think that while rather inventive, the power amp section that includes the 1 tube only benefits tone and color when the gain is cranked. for me it just a really loud practice amp....but certainly a price performer for what i paid...though i would be curious if switching out the stock 12ax7 with something compatible might improve the clean channels? doubtful since it really seems to draw the tube sound in on gain at 4 oclock or beyond.

if anyone out there has done this simple mod to a valvetronix, i would be really curious to know what you think of it, and what compatible tube was used.

Them Zoom Ultra Fuzz pedals are awesome, one of my mates has one. shame they're out of production now. Basically a cheap Zvex Fuzz Factory contender I thought.

for whatever reason glitches, blips, and harsher ambient soundscapes are really appealing to me right now.

-- FX Loop used as a volume boost for guitar solos

Ancient Tongues - Rehearsal/Demos/Outside of Tounges (dates, jams, etc...)

Roland Cube-Street - Effects controled via knobs by my toes most of the time

- Rectified Amp Sim, usually with EQ 100% of the way up on all knobs

- Chorus/Delay used sometimes for aesthetics

M.J./Youtube/Ancient Tongues Demo stuff

Behringer V-Amp Pro - Effects controlled via Peavey RMS2000 Midi Controller soemtimes

- Base Sound - Marshall JCM800 amp sim, EVH 78' Cab Sim, Noise Gate 3, Stereo Chorus 2 with chorus halfway for "whoosh" effect or up full for stereo width kind of sound, and Ultra-Room Reverb (super-long MBV style reverb) Sometimes a Delay is added for extra etherial-ness or for solos, delay set with tap tempo button. EQ - LOW = halfway up, MID = 100% up, HIGH = 100% Up, PRESC = 100% up, and Gain varied depending upon guitar. Sometimes Drive is enabled for weaker guitars or to get more of a "shred guitar" sound (Zenta Telecaster, Stock Tele, lower-output Jags, etc...), active guitars get half gain and no drive sometimes to keep the sound tight.

I like it a lot, it has replaced my want for a BOSS HyperFuzz since it seems highly capable of some 70's type fuzz sounds, as well as it has some nifty sounds. I even found a setting or two that can emulate the Nintendo NES sound generator, lol.
