just put a down payment on a used ampeg j-20 jet (850$ new), so i have 30 days to get 300$ together (since i have a job, that should be easy). i'm gonna try to get rid of my traynor twin copy, crate palomino, and washburn. been a good few days for me.
by the way, these are the strings i'm using now on my main guitar:
e 11
b 14
G 18
D 30
A 42
E 59/60
that gives me a wonderful huge, tight and smooth sound on the bottom two strings, and a nice balanced sound on the top 4. the g is a bit light, because i've found that heavier g's sound just plunky, and horrible. the oversized low strings give a huge bottom end, and enormous sustain. on my other guitars, i'm going to use lighter bottoms to keep variety between them.
by the way, the bottom two strings do fit, but the low e didn't get all the way in at the nut end. but since theres so much tension (gotta be about 30 pounds) it doesn't pop out at all.
edit: btw, the ampeg is based on a tweed deluxe, but with slightly less bass for better overdriven sounds. also, i was playing a squier classic vibe through it, which sounded amazing.
