Hi i just get boss ds-2 distortion and its sound awsome when run together with my marshall mg 15 distortion chanell,but when playing clean chanell and ds-2 sounds thin and 'not good' my guitar is mustang 69 ri cij

jeeze you like alot of distortion huh. well the reason it sounds bad on clean is probley because I have heard that Distortion pedals where made for tube amplifiers and being a solid state amp the clean is designed for the just clean tone and not meant to be distored, thus why it has the distortion channel. But I could be wrong just thats what im assuming.

Well the MG15 is a very small amp. Have you tried it out on a larger amp? Also, judging by the fact that you have a Mustang you probably have no humbuckers, so a thinner sound should be expected.

use the neck pup on its own and turn the bass up, or something

Yeah small amps crap out with dist. pedals, try bigger

but like at least 50 watts, I mean with my experience 15 watt amps die with dist effect(Big Muff esp)

Try lowering the treble on your amp and tone control on the pedal.

To be honest, most stomp boxes sound a little nicer with a bit of grit on the amp, so maybe you'd prefer dialing in a low gain overdrive sound on your amps distortion channel and using the pedal with that. It won't be as defined as when using the clean channel though.

Nope that's rubbish. They have 2 channels so you can have 2 footswitchable sounds. A clean solidstate amp will never quite react in the same way to dirt pedals as a clean tube amp would because of how the sound is produced, but they're definately not "not designed to be used with distortion pedals".

i heard the boss ds-2 on nirvena album 'In Utero' and i thought is great

but when i play it on my equipment Mustang 69 ri with jb jr., marshall mg 15 it has such a dry, thin..sound 🙄🙄

Resool on In Utero Kurt played on a Jaguar for starters, and as an amp he used a Fender Twin Reverb pretty pricey and it is tubed and 100 watts. And some people say he used a Tech 21 Sansamp. So That explains why you dont sound like Kurt from the In Utero period. The only peice of gear you have right is the DS-2 now a modified Stang will make you sound like him live,but not with a Marshall solid-state marshall my advice save up for a good tubed amp.
