Guitar playing is supposed to be fun, it's not a mathematical equation, you're not supposed to be anal about it.
Get any distortion pedal and rock it, if it doesn't sound like Kurt Cobain, that's because you're not in a studio with his equipment, and if you can't play it without making a mistake, then the last thing you need to worry about is the sound of it.
Couldn't agree more. Without expanding, I would never have discovered artists like Mr. Bungle, King Crimson, The B-52's, Frank Zappa, Talking Heads, Oingo Boingo, Iron Maiden, and others that I have come to love, all for different reasons.
When I was in high school, it was grunge, alternative, and new punk all the way, but I kind of grew out of it. Not to suggest I think it's bad, it's just than my horizons broadened.
Oh, and am I the only person that thinks that the Billy Joe Armstrong of 1995 would have laughed his ass off at the Billy Joe Armstrong of today???
