I got the idea for this thread then forgot to write it down.

As someone that owns 4 guitars, I was thinking about each one and how hey compare to each other, and what I like most and least about each.

I'm curious to know how others feel about their own arsenal.

I'm gonna make this list pretty elaborate, I think.

My guitars:

Affinity Strat

Affinity Tele

Jagmaster

Body shape/feel:

Gotta go to the Jagmaster for this one. I play mostly sitting down, and the Jagmaster feels great played this way. Standing up, it's a bit heavy, but I never play standing up (I don't even own a strap), so it makes no difference. The Tele is the least comfortable, but not bad enough to be a problem.

Neck:

I've been lucky with necks. The profile on the Tele is very comfortable, but the gloss finish doesn't do it for me. The finish and profile on the Jagmaster are great, as is the tint. Looks great, plays better. The prize goes to the Strat. Great profile, nice rosewood fretboard, and the maple is beautifully flamed and figured. Looks and plays amazingly well. The 51 is the least favourite here. Well finished, but untinted, and rather chunky.

Colour/finish:

Another win for the Jagmaster. Beautiful dark sunburst, well set off by a dark red tort pickguard. The Strat and 51 are a more boring tobacco burst, and the 51 is rather chipped. The one I like least is the Tele. Black with a white pickguard, it is the last colour scheme I would ever choose given a choice.

Neck pickup:

Dropping the tone to 3 makes the Jagmaster sound its best, but otherwise it's a boring sound. The Tele is nice and clean and even, but also a bit thin and boring. The Strat sounds like a weaker, weedier, thinner version of a Fender. The prize here definitely goes to the 51. It sounds just like a Strat. A real one. Loud and clean, with nice pick attack and great definition. The least favourite is the Affinity Strat.

Bridge pickup:

This one is close to a tie, but again the prize goes to the 51. The hunbucker is grunty and loud, but still crisp and clear. Very close is the Tele. It has that trebly Tele twang, but it is still about thin and lacking to truly emulate a good Fender. The Strat sounds pretty bad. No personality. Lucky the middle pickup sounds great. The Jagmaster suffers from a similar problem, no personality. Not bad, but nothing worth noting, either.

Vibrato:

Only two of my guitars have them, and both are unreliable. But the Strat is truly awful, while the Jagmaster stays in tune fairly well if used lightly.

Sentimental value:

Like everyone else, I love all my guitars. The most sentimental value belongs to the Tele, being the first decent guitar I ever owned. Similar value with the Jagmaster, the first brand new guitar I ever bought, and the trouble I went through to get it adds to the sentimental value. The 51 has a similar story to the Jagmaster. No sentimental value or great story with the Strat. I went to the store, bought it, took it home that same day.

Monetary value:

I'd say it would be the Jagmaster. The 51 has been modded, but I don't know what pickups are in it. The 51 is also chipped, and some might consider the pickguard to be ruined. The Tele is also chipped and modified and has very little resale value. The Strat is brand new, but is still a cheap guitar.

Bought for:

Strat: AUD $199 (originally $399)

Tele: AUD $200 (originally $245)

51: AUD $200

Jagmaster: AUD $549

Additional money sunk in:

Strat: none so far

Tele: about AUD $80. But I have a custom-made pickguard that I haven't paid for yet.

51: about AUD $245. This includes a pickguard that I wasn't able to use.

Jagmaster: AUD $70. Was going to modify it, but changed my mind before I bought anything.

If selling, the first to go:

The Strat. No question about it. But once the project is completed, no way. After that, sadly, the Tele would be the next to go.

Anyway, this is my post, and I hope others will take the time to post something similar, as I am curious to know these sort of things.
