thought I'd make one quick post just to say hello. I've been lurking here for a few months, and the info here is super helpful.

I finished my Jagstang rebuild/hotrod project over the weekend.

Basics - 1996/97 Fiesta Red Jagstang, all original hardware

Condition and Plan -

I bought the guitar from a friend-of-a-friend, it played - sort of - and I really liked the neck and short scale. I also had been trying out different humbucker guitars, and when this one just dropped into my lap, I had to take a stab at it. Only the front slide switch worked, the pots were spotty, the strings were toast, but the basics were there and in good shape. $200 purchase price.

Initially I just planned to sort out the switch and pot issues, so I pulled the scratch plate, and... someone had butchered the wiring internally. It looked like someone had rewired the front switch for neck/both/bridge pickups. The rear switch wasn't connected to anything. The overall wiring wasn't good.

After doing some homework here, I decided that if I was going to the trouble of rewiring the switches and replacing the pots, I'd just go whole hog and do a "custom" wiring job, and new switches, pickups, pots.

Hardware -

I wanted to make this a somewhat budget build, and I was looking for something to do mostly bluesy type work on with a humbucker.

Neck - Kent Armstrong Hot SIngle

Bridge - Dimarzio DP207, blade toward the bridge

500K pots, 0.022 tone cap

2 new switchcraft slide switches

All in black.

I used the gmarts wiring diagram, simply because I couldn't decide what I wanted to do with the second switch. If I get in there again, I might get crazy with coil tapping or something.

I had to get new knobs to fit the new pots, so I picked up a set of strat knobs in black for tone/vol.

Impressions -

Well, it didn't play all that well before, but it does now. Nice tone, the pickups are pretty hot, so super clean tones are a little iffy, but that's not what I play, so I don't really care.
